Click on the Register tab on the top right to reach the register page
Enter your first and last name
Enter your e-mail address
Enter a password of at least six characters
Enter your location. E.g. Kent
Click male/female
Enter your birthday
Indicate where you heard about Makealist
Click on the Upload Image box to choose a picture from your computer. Click again if you wish to change it. Image must be no more than 2meg
Click in the checkbox to open a text box, where you can write a bit about yourself
After reading our Terms & Conditions, tick the box and click Sign Up!
Once registered, follow the link to your profile page, then click on Make a List to take you to the make a list page
You can amend these settings any time by clicking on Account at the top of the page
After registering you will be directed to this page. Another way to reach this page is by clicking on the list type on the notepaper image, then click on Make a New List
Name the list. E.g. Rosie’s Birthday List
Here you can choose the list type. E.g. Birthday. Makealist will create a suitable banner at the top.
If you select Wedding a section will appear for your partners name
If your occasion is not listed, choose Other
Add some text in the details section if you like
Click on the calendar icon and use the pop up to select the date of the occasion
Now click Save.
Now you have created your first list you are ready to begin adding your favourite gifts!
How do I add items to my list?
Type the name of your gift in the Search for a Gift box on the top left of your screen.
Found the gift you want? Click Add to my list
Select which list to add it to. Then...
Add another Gift!
How do I Describe a Gift manually?
How to add a gift found online:
Navigate to Shops page, click on Describe a Gift
Insert the name of the product
Enter a description
Copy and paste the image URL into the Image link box
How to Copy and paste the image link
Internet Explorer (other browsers will vary):
Right Click on the image of the item
Select Properties, then copy the image URL
Navigate back to Describe a Product page
Place the cursor in the Image text-box
Right Click
Select Paste
Item Link
Copy and paste a link to the item in the Link to Item text-box
Copy the URL from the address bar or right click, then copy shortcut. (Example shown is Internet Explorer)
Into the Link to Item text-box
Paste
Select the shop using the dropdown list. If your shop is not listed, select Other then type the name of the shop
Insert the price. E.g. 9.99. There’s no need to enter a pound sign
Click Submit
Select which list to add it to. Then…
Add another Gift!
How to add a Gift that’s not available online:
0 Results found? Click on Describe a Gift. Or, from the Shops page, click on Describe a Gift
Insert the name of the product
Describe the product (optional)
If you can find an image of your gift, insert the image link (you can copy and paste the URL from the address bar) (optional)
As it’s not available online – leave the Link to Item box blank
Insert the shop name using the dropdown list. If you can’t find the shop you want, select Other, then type the name of the shop or don’t know
Insert the price of the item. Leave it blank if you’re not sure
Click on Submit
Select which list to add it to. Then…
Add another Gift!
How do I send my list to my friends/family
By e-mail:
From My List page, click on Send To a Friend
Click on the add/edit friends button
Add as many friends as you like
Click on Return To List
Makealist sends a pre-worded e-mail from you, but you can add a more personal message if you like
Click on Preview
Click Submit
By post:
Click the Print List button at the top of your wishlist. This will print a list of your gifts and any relevant information, such as the price and where it can be bought
Fold, place it in a stamped addressed envelope and send!
Member Search Box:
Just invite your friend to visit www.makealist.co.uk and search for your list by using the Member Search Box
How do I send my list to Santa?
As the Christmas season begins, an invite to Send Your List to Santa will appear below the notepaper image on the right of the page
Click on the image
If you have made a Kiddie Christmas List, you will be invited to choose option 1, or option 2
Click option 1 to send your list via e-mail – you’ll receive an e-mail back from Santa Claus himself! This option is FREE!
Choose option 2 – you can receive a letter from the North Pole and more! This option requires an adult because you have to pay a small fee for this one.
